Herbal teas are wonderful beverages, and they come with many benefits to the mind, body and spirit. One of the many benefits is hydration. Herbal teas are a great way to increase your water intake if you have an issue with consuming water. Herbal teas also helps the body to stay hydrated.

Another benefit of preparing herbs as a tea is that water-soluble constituents, such as acids, alkaloids, bitter compounds, flavonoids, glycosides, gums, minerals, mucilage, polysaccharides, tannins, and (for a short term) volatile oils are extracted from the herbs and their properties are easy for your body to absorb.

The soothing and calming benefits of a cup of hot tea in your hands cannot be missed. The warming emotions your body feels as the warm tea hits the back of your throat and warms your whole body as it goes down is undescribable.

Generally speaking, most beverage teas are made with 1-2 tablespoons of herb material per 8 fl oz of water when using dried herbs. When making a quart-sized (32 fl oz) infusion, you can use anywhere from ¼ cup of a dried herb blend for a mildly flavored infusion up to 1 oz of herb by weight for a potent dose of botanical goodness. If your tea blend is primarily made up of hard herbs, such as roots, barks or seeds, you will likely decrease these amounts to 1-2 teaspoons of herb per 8 fl oz of water or anywhere from 2 tablespoons to ¼ cup of herb per quart of water.

2 oz size or approximately 12 teaspoons.
