Good morning, everyone! Welcome back to House of Flava.
Today was one of those peaceful mornings in the garden where I just spent time planting and getting ready for the next season of growth.
One thing I love about succession planting is that even in the middle of summer, there's always something new beginning.
Today I planted a little bit of everything!
🌱 My Herb & Strawberry Tower
I filled my 18-pocket tower with a combination of herbs, flowers, and strawberries.
The top six pockets are filled with strawberry transplants.
Then I added:
- Oregano
- Thyme
- Rosemary cuttings
Next came some of my favorite medicinal flowers:
- White Yarrow
- Summer Berry Yarrow
- Feverfew
- Chives
Then I planted:
- Marigolds
- Lemon Mint Bergamot
- Stevia
And finally:
- Parsley
- Mint
- Blue and White Borage
I'm looking forward to watching this tower fill in over the coming months.
🌿 Seeds & Pots
I also started quite a few seeds and transplants today.
Some went into cups to establish strong roots before transplanting, while others went directly into pots.
Today's planting included:
- Feverfew
- Firecracker Penstemon
- Ground Cherries
- Celery
- Thyme
- Rosemary Cuttings
- Toothache Plant
- Oregano
- Yarrow
- Arugula
- Echinacea
- Basil
- Marigolds
- Lavender
- Lemon Mint Bergamot
- Ashwagandha
- Lemongrass
- Tomatoes
- Beans
- Cucamelons for trellising
I also planted Blue and White Borage in a hanging planter.
Later, I'd like to add some strawberries around the edges so the borage can spill over the sides while the strawberries trail underneath.
I think that's going to be really pretty.
❄️ Seed Stratification
Not everything was planted today.
Some seeds actually need a little winter before they'll wake up.
So today I placed my Marshmallow seeds and my Strawberry seeds into the refrigerator for cold stratification.
Sometimes gardening teaches us that patience is just as important as planting.
🌸 Why I Love Growing This Way
One thing you'll notice about my garden is that it isn't just a vegetable garden.
It's becoming a complete herbal and pollinator garden.
Every flower, herb, and vegetable has a purpose.
Some feed my family.
Some support pollinators.
Some become teas.
Some become oils.
Some become products for House of Flava.
And some are simply here because they bring joy.
❤️ Closing
Thanks so much for spending a little time with me in the garden today.
If you're planting this season, I'd love to hear what you're growing.
Until next time...
Stay rooted in nature, keep growing, and I'll see you in the next garden update.
